Privacy Policy

What I don't do

There are no user accounts and no logins. I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal data with anyone, and I don't build advertising profiles on you.

Analytics

Opuslay uses two privacy-friendly analytics tools, and that's why you'll never see a cookie banner here: neither of them stores anything on your device.

Umami Cloud, hosted in the European Union, counts page views and a small set of anonymous interactions — which pattern family you filtered on, which internal link you followed, which share or export button you pressed. Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights count page views and measure how quickly pages actually load on real devices.

None of them uses cookies, identifies you, or follows you across other websites, and what I see is aggregated — page views and general trends, not individual people.

The contact form

If you use the contact form on the About page, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent through Web3Forms, a form-handling service, so the message can reach me by email. I use that information only to read and reply to you. If you don't contact me, none of this applies.

Patterns you share

If you use the tile layout planner and share a pattern you made (the Open in calculator or Copy share link buttons), I record the pattern's geometry, your browser language, and your country — so I can see which patterns people want and add the popular ones to the library.

That record travels to a private spreadsheet through a Google Apps Script web app, which also emails it to me; a numbers-only event goes to Umami at the same time. The country comes from a lookup with GeoJS, a geolocation service: the lookup necessarily shows GeoJS the address your connection comes from, and that is the only thing it ever sees — all I get back is a two-letter country code. I do not store your IP address. Nothing is recorded until you actively share a pattern.

Pages that don't exist

If you land on a page that doesn't exist (a "404"), I record the address you asked for and the page that sent you there, so I can fix broken links and put the old addresses back where they belong. It goes to the same private spreadsheet, through the same Google Apps Script web app, and reaches me as one daily summary rather than one message per visit. That's all: no IP address, no country, no identifier, nothing that says which visitor you are, and nothing that follows you from one page to the next. When the address that sent you there comes from another website, I keep only its page address, without whatever it carried after the question mark.

Affiliate links and cookies

Some pages — particularly the results / shopping-list section — may include affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer sets its own cookies to attribute that sale, and Opuslay may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. These cookies are set by the retailer, not by me, and they're governed by that retailer's own privacy policy. I don't receive your payment details or see what you personally bought — only aggregated commission reports.

Fonts

The site's typeface (Outfit) is self-hosted — it's served from Opuslay's own domain, not from Google Fonts. No request or data ever goes to Google to load it.

Changes

As Opuslay grows — for example, when affiliate partnerships go live — I may update this page. The date at the top always reflects the latest version.
